Viessmann Vitodens 100-W fault 69
Ionisation current lies outside the permissible range
Gas boilerWhat it means
Burner enters a fault state because the ionisation current reading is outside the permissible range, with possible causes related to insulation block contact or gas solenoid valve performance.
Likely causes
- Insulation block touching electrode ceramic
- Gas solenoid valve fault
- Contaminated intake screen
Where to start
- Check whether insulation block is touching electrode ceramic
- Check gas solenoid valve: in service menu under 'b.6', set burner output to lower heating output for approx. 4 min; if fault occurs, replace the HBMU heat management unit
- In service menu under 'b.6', switch burner output from lower to upper heating output; if fault occurs during modulation, check intake screen for contamination

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
