Intergas HRE / Rapid / ECO RF fault 5

Poor flame signal

Gas boiler

What it means

The boiler controller has detected a poor/weak flame signal.

Likely causes

  1. Condensate drain blocked
  2. Incorrect CO2 adjustment of gas valve
  3. Earth fault
  4. Gas tap closed
  5. Air in gas pipe
  6. Gas supply pressure too low
  7. No ignition / worn ignition electrode
  8. No spark / faulty ignition unit on gas valve
  9. Gas/air adjustment not correctly set
  10. Fan faulty
  11. Fan dirty
  12. Gas valve faulty
  13. Gas supply pressure too high
  14. Incorrect ignition gap
  15. Weak spark
  16. A different gas type is connected to the appliance than the one it was factory-set for

Where to start

  1. Press the On/Off button to start the appliance - heat exchanger heats up and service display shows 3, 4 and 7 depending on status of DHW disabling switch and/or Open Therm regulation
  2. Adjust pump setting depending on maximum power set and resistance in CH installation (see §10.3 parameter setting and §10.5 for pump head/pressure loss)
  3. Set room thermostat higher than room temperature - appliance switches to CH operation and display shows 5

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
