Intergas HRE / Rapid / ECO RF fault 7

Frost protection active (pre heating heat exchanger)

Gas boiler

What it means

Displayed when the appliance's internal frost protection is activated. If the heat exchanger temperature falls too low, the burner switches on and the pump runs until the heat exchanger temperature is sufficient. This symbol indicates pre-heating of the heat exchanger is in progress.

Likely causes

  1. Appliance manually switched off while still powered
  2. Low ambient/system temperature risking freezing of the heat exchanger
  3. Room thermostat setting incorrect
  4. Temperature setting too low
  5. Outside sensor shortcircuit
  6. Pump not running correctly / pump setting too low
  7. No circulation in installation
  8. Boiler power not correctly set for installation
  9. Lime scale or fouling in heat exchanger

Where to start

  1. Check LED status at the power button to determine if DHW comfort function is on
  2. In this operating mode the pressure in the CH installation (in Bar) can also be read on the main display
  3. Check heat exchanger temperature

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
