Midea Heat pump fault H6

DC fan motor protection

Heat pump

What it means

Protects the DC fan motors from strong winds and abnormal power supply conditions. Triggered when fan speed continues below 50rpm for more than 40S from set fan step>0, or fan speed is lower than 50rpm for 3S during normal operation.

Likely causes

  1. Fan speed less than 50rpm for more than 40S with set fan step>0
  2. Fan speed lower than 50rpm for 3S during normal operation
  3. Strong wind affecting fan rotation
  4. Abnormal power supply to fan motor
  5. Refrigerant leak from container or system
  6. Damage to cables
  7. Excessive number of connections
  8. Terminals not made to original specification
  9. Damage to seals
  10. Incorrect fitting of glands

Where to start

  1. Check fan speed against 50rpm threshold
  2. Check duration of low speed condition (40S or 3S depending on operating state)
  3. Check for obstructions or strong wind affecting fan

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
