Intergas HRE / Rapid / ECO RF fault 27

Shortcut outside sensor

Gas boiler

What it means

The outside temperature sensor has a short circuit fault.

Likely causes

  1. Outside sensor shorted
  2. Room thermostat setting incorrect
  3. Temperature setting too low
  4. Outside sensor shortcircuit
  5. Pump not running correctly / pump setting too low
  6. No circulation in installation
  7. Boiler power not correctly set for installation
  8. Lime scale or fouling in heat exchanger

Where to start

  1. Check outside sensor wiring and sensor itself for short circuit
  2. Check room thermostat setting - adjust if necessary, set to 0.1A
  3. If OK, check CH temperature setting - increase CH temperature, check outside sensor for short-circuiting and rectify

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
