Midea Heat pump fault HF

Outdoor unit EEPROM error

Heat pump

What it means

The driving program of inverter PCB is detected as being mismatched with Dip switch settings

Likely causes

  1. Dip switch S5/S6 set incorrectly for the unit capacity/phase
  2. Main Control PCB failure
  3. Inverter control box failure
  4. Faulty inverter power module
  5. Faulty three-phase bridge rectifier (3Ph models)
  6. Abnormal state detected requiring compressor protection
  7. Set temperature reached (normal stop)
  8. Abnormal system state detected

Where to start

  1. Check and set the Dip switch to the correct position for the unit model
  2. Re-power the unit after 20s and check if error still displays
  3. If error persists, replace Main Control PCB and check if error still occurs

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
