Midea Heat pump fault HP
Low pressure protection in cooling mode
Heat pumpWhat it means
Main Control PCB detected that the suction pressure P2<0.35Mpa for 5 seconds in cooling mode and compressor running over 300 seconds.
Likely causes
- Refrigerant leakage
- Electronic expansion valve not working
Where to start
- Check 'Unit Status-Operation parameter-P1 comp. pressure & P2 comp. pressure' on the User Interface and check P1=P2 while the unit is off
- Check 'Unit Status-Operation parameter-P1 comp. pressure' on the User Interface, compare it with the reference value in Discharge/Suction pressure and temperature range in Appendix 4
- Reboot the unit, hold the electronic expansion valve coil to feel whether it is working, and listen for the 'Click' sound when the valve turns on/off

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
From the Midea manual for the Heat pump. Check the model on the data plate before you order parts.
