Midea Heat pump fault P1

High pressure protection

Heat pump

What it means

The system protects the refrigerant circuit from abnormally high discharge pressure and protects the compressor from transient pressure spikes. When discharge pressure (Pc) rises above 3.5MPa, the unit stops running and displays P1.

Likely causes

  1. Refrigerant system fault causing pressure spike
  2. Refrigerant leak from container or system

Where to start

  1. Verify water flow rate matches the unit kW rating
  2. Measure discharge (absolute) pressure P1
  3. Compare measured P1 against expected value ± tolerance for corresponding Tw_out

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
