Ideal Logic System IE fault L2
Ignition lockout after 5 failed attempts
Gas boilerWhat it means
Boiler fails to light after 5 ignition attempts and locks out, displaying fault code L2 on the two-digit display.
Likely causes
- Failed ignition sequence
- Gas supply or ignition fault
- Mode knob not in ON position
- Timer and Room Thermostat or cylinder thermostat switched off
- Radiator valves closed
- No voltage from Timer/Room Stat (external wiring fault)
- Faulty wiring from terminal strip to PCB
Where to start
- Check ignition sequence completed correctly
- Restart the boiler per Section 2.25
- Observe if boiler repeats ignition sequence

Safety: Isolate gas and power before you open the case. If you have been into the gas side, do a tightness test, and a combustion and flue check before you hand back. Gas Safe (UK) or RGI (Ireland) work only.
