LG Therma V fault CH26

Compressor NG (fault finding function result)

Heat pump

What it means

Result code output by the manual fault diagnostic function indicating the compressor tested NG (not good/failed) during the diagnostic sequence.

Likely causes

  1. Overload operation (EEV restriction / excessive refrigerant)
  2. Inverter compressor burnout (insulation breakdown / motor burnout)
  3. Bad connection of inverter compressor
  4. Outdoor unit Inverter PCB burnout (CT)
  5. Compressor restraint/lock
  6. Compressor wiring issue (reverse phase loss)
  7. Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
  8. Compressor winding resistance out of specification
  9. Insulation resistance failure between compressor terminal and pipe
  10. Fan locked
  11. Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
  12. Insufficient distance between product and wall
  13. Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
  14. EEV operation/connection status fault
  15. Abnormal refrigerant pressure
  16. Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
  17. IGBTM failure
  18. Insufficient power-on time before operation (less than 12 hours)
  19. Faulty IPM (Intelligent Power Module)
  20. Faulty compressor (insulation or coil failure)
  21. Faulty inverter board
  22. Unstable or zero output voltage from inverter
  23. Refrigerant accumulation in internal compressor after mounting or extended power-off period, causing temporary reduced insulation resistance

Where to start

  1. Enter functions using LGMV (PC or Mobile)
  2. Perform a diagnostic function via LGMV
  3. Check compressor restraint

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
