LG Therma V fault CH60
Outdoor EEPROM error
Heat pumpWhat it means
EEPROM access error and Check SUM error on the outdoor unit. Indicates the EEPROM on the Main PCB (Outdoor Inv) or Inv PCB (Outdoor) cannot be read correctly or data integrity check has failed.
Likely causes
- Bad EEPROM contact / wrong insertion
- EEPROM version is different
- Outdoor unit PCB failure
- Fan locked
- Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
- Insufficient distance between product and wall
- Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
- EEV operation/connection status fault
- Abnormal refrigerant pressure
- Compressor restraint
- Compressor wiring reverse phase loss
- Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
- Compressor winding resistance out of spec
- Compressor insulation resistance failure
- Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
- IGBTM failure
Where to start
- Check if EEPROM is inserted. If not inserted, check connection status and reinsert.
- If EEPROM is inserted, check if EEPROM status is normal. If not normal, replace EEPROM.
- If EEPROM status is normal, check if EEPROM insertion direction is normal (insert the socket hole and EEPROM hole in the same direction). If not normal, change EEPROM direction.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
From the LG manual for the Therma V. Check the model on the data plate before you order parts.
