LG Therma V fault CH61

High temperature in cond. pipe

Heat pump

What it means

Temperature in the condenser pipe is too high, triggering a protection error.

Likely causes

  1. Overload operation (Outdoor fan constraint, screened, blocked)
  2. Unit heat exchanger contaminated
  3. EEV connector displaced / poor EEV assembly
  4. Poor Cond. Pipe sensor assembly / burned
  5. Incorrect FCU setting mismatched to actual installation can cause abnormal operation
  6. FCU set to 'Use' when not actually installed causes unit to stop unnecessarily
  7. FCU set to 'Not use' when FCU is actually installed means Stop temp. is ignored and unit will not stop, risking condensation

Where to start

  1. Check if the unit is properly installed: check fan locking, remove blockings around heat exchanger, maintain distance between unit and the wall, check pipe folding and abnormality, check SVC valve lock. If not properly installed, remove cause of error.
  2. If unit is properly installed, check if refrigerant is properly charged. If overcharged, adjust refrigerant volume.
  3. If refrigerant is properly charged, check if EEV is properly assembled: check status of PCB(Inverter) CN-EEV1 assembly and status of EEV assembly. If not properly assembled, reassemble or replace EEV.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
