LG Therma V fault CH67

Outdoor fan lock

Heat pump

What it means

Fan RPM is 10RPM or less for 5 seconds when ODU fan starts, or 40 RPM or less after fan starting, indicating the outdoor fan is locked or not rotating correctly.

Likely causes

  1. Bad Motor / Poor assembly.
  2. Misconnection Fan Motor connector.
  3. Rotation in reverse direction after speed command.
  4. Bad Fan Board
  5. Fan lock by Heavy snow
  6. Fan locked
  7. Obstruction/shield around the heat exchanger
  8. Insufficient distance between product and wall
  9. Piping condition issues such as pipe bending
  10. EEV operation/connection status fault
  11. Abnormal refrigerant pressure
  12. Compressor restraint
  13. Compressor wiring reverse phase loss
  14. Short circuit or opening of internal connection line in compressor
  15. Compressor winding resistance out of spec
  16. Compressor insulation resistance failure
  17. Inverter PCB assembly or connector connection fault
  18. IGBTM failure

Where to start

  1. Set tester to resistance mode.
  2. Measure resistance between U-V, U-W, and V-W terminals of the fan motor.
  3. Compare measured values against expected 43.1±5% Ω at 25°C standard.

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
