Panasonic Aquarea T-CAP R32 fault F23

Output over current detection

Heat pump

What it means

During operation of cooling and heating, when outdoor DC current above 53 A is detected by the IPM DC Peak sensing circuitry in the outdoor unit PCB (main).

Likely causes

  1. Current to IPM exceeding set value
  2. Repeated short-cycle restarts due to persistent overcurrent condition
  3. Possible IPM or compressor electrical fault
  4. Faulty outdoor unit PCB (main)
  5. Faulty compressor

Where to start

  1. Connect tester negative terminal to power transistor (+), positive terminal to UVW - check resistance
  2. Check IPM current against set value
  3. Monitor restart timing pattern (30 second vs within 30 second recurrence)

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
