Panasonic Aquarea T-CAP R32 fault H36

Abnormal buffer tank sensor

Heat pump

What it means

The indoor sub PCB has detected an abnormal reading from the buffer tank sensor, sustained continuously for 5 seconds, indicating a connection fault, sensor fault, or PCB fault.

Likely causes

  1. Faulty connector connection
  2. Faulty indoor sub PCB
  3. Indoor communication error

Where to start

  1. Check buffer tank sensor wiring and continuity
  2. When H36 occurs, check buffer tank sensor connection at CN205 is normal - if NO, correct connection
  3. If connection is normal (YES), disconnect sensor from sub PCB and measure resistance of sensor, compare against characteristic - if not same (NO), change buffer tank sensor

Safety: Isolate the outdoor unit and any backup heater, and give the inverter capacitors time to discharge before you open the electrics. Anything on the refrigerant circuit needs F-gas certification.
